What makes heaven what it is?

The Word for today:
Ezekiel 47:13-48:35

Scripture doesn't give much information about heaven.  There's a reason for that, which we'll get to.

Most of the "information" and the mental imagery we have of "heaven" comes not from Scripture, but from Hollywood.

Yuck.  The heaven they present is about the last place I'd ever want to go.  Inert, insipid, banal...Hollywood's version of heaven is my version of hell.

A real picture of heaven is seen in the very last line of Ezekiel.  Are you ready?  Here's heaven:
THE LORD IS THERE.

The one thing that makes "heaven" heaven is the Presence of the LORD.  So heaven is not a place.  Heaven is a person.

Heaven is your individual relationship with Jesus.  If you know him to be little, so is heaven.  But don't despair, because the bigger he gets, the bigger heaven is.  The more wonderful you know him to be, the more wonderful your heaven.

And there's never any end to it, so always think bigger. And then think bigger again. Your thought will not outrun him. Your imagination will never capture him.  In order to contain Jesus, you'd have to put infinity in a bottle.

The reason we are not given much information about heaven is that we are given so much information about Jesus!
